I was inspired to explore the cross over potential between granny squares and painting. Each square is a scene of my home town, Usk, and is coloured with a palette pre-determined by a blanket made by my great grandmother. This feels like a wholesome nod to home and family, but also, the value of inherited craft.
I am in awe of the artistic curation that can go into producing crochet work. As someone learning the process, and is finding it frustrating, this piece allowed me to explore it in a new light.
Adapted but acknowledging.
