This body of work is inspired by a crochet blanket that was made by my Great-Grandmother. When I think about my childhood spent in Usk, South Wales, I find myself reminiscing on memories of home and family. This blanket truly captures that homely warmth of my grandparents house, and I am drawn to the technical skill involved in the process of its creation. From repurposing old woolen projects to the creating and joining of stitches. I am inspired to incorporate this resourcefulness and techniques into the fine art space as, typically, such heirloom pieces would be limited to the domestic space.

At what point does crochet transform from a domestic craft to fine art?

How does my use of material and process confront this?
